Key Points
The Gaza Strip
- ngoing strikes by Israeli Forces continue, with aerial, land and maritime bombardment across the Gaza Strip. These result in civilian casualties, displacement and the destruction of residential structures and civilian infrastructure. The Israeli Forces’ ground offensive continues to expand, with new evacuation orders issued for parts of Khan Younis, impacting a quarter of a million people, deepening the humanitarian crisis and further destabilizing humanitarian aid flows.
- According to OCHA, between 1 and 30 June, out of 115 planned humanitarian assistance missions coordinated with Israeli authorities to northern Gaza, only 53 (46 per cent) were facilitated, and the remaining 62 (54 per cent) were either impeded, denied and/or cancelled due to logistical, operational or security reasons. In addition, out of 299 coordinated humanitarian assistance missions to areas in southern Gaza, 213 (71.2 per cent) were facilitated by Israeli forces, and 86 (28.8 per cent) were either impeded, denied and/or cancelled.
- UNRWA[1] reported piles of garbage and sewage continue to accumulate in Gaza, rotting in the heat near displacement sites. The extreme heat and lack of clea water continue to fuel the spread of infectious diseases, exacerbating the burden on an already overwhelmed and severely under-resourced health facilities.
- The deteriorating law and order situation is severely hindering humanitarian actors from collecting aid at the Kerem Shalom Crossing for distribution within Gaza. This adds to existing operational challenges such as insecurity, damaged infrastructure, fuel shortages and restricted access. The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) and SCI reported this week that food on the market is largely unaffordable for vulnerable households, many of whom have lost their income or exhausted their savings. The latest information on supplies entering Gaza via Kerem Shalom and Rafah can be found below:

The West Bank, including East Jerusalem
The West Bank, including East Jerusalem update is now once a week.
- According to OCHA, between 7 October 2023 and 24 June 2024, 536 Palestinians, including 130 children, were killed in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
Between 24 and 30 June, there were at least 178 recorded Israeli Security Forces’ (ISF) search and arrest operations across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. More than 221 Palestinians, including Palestine refugees, were detained by the ISF during this period. Of these, 59 were arrested during two ISF operations early on 24 June, in Kafr Ni’ma and Silwad in the central West Bank.
During this period two Palestinians were reported killed. One of them was killed in a drone strike on a house in Nur Shams camp, in the northern West Bank, on 30 June, during which five other Palestinians were injured.
On 26 June, the ISF demolished homes and agricultural structures in the Bedouin refugee community of Umm al Kheir, located in Masafer Yatta area in the southern West Bank. This demolition is estimated to have displaced around 27 Palestinians. The demolitions follow a growing campaign of harassment and violence targeting Bedouin and herder communities in the West Bank.

UNRWA is working to verify the details of incidents reportedly affecting UNRWA premises. Further information will be provided once it becomes available.
-
One incident has been reported impacting UNRWA installations and internally displaced people (IDPs) sheltering there. While verification of details and casualty figures remain ongoing, initial reports indicate:
- [Late report] On 25 June 2024, a IDP sustained a minor injury in his foot in a school in Khan Younis as a result of a small explosion caused presumably by the detonation of an unknown explosive device. The IDP was transferred to the hospital for medical care. No other injuries were reported. UNRWA reported the incident to UNMAS and coordination is ongoing for a joint assessment of the site and further verification. Meanwhile, UNRWA teams are conducting explosive ordnance risk education sessions among the IDPs who returned to the shelters in Khan Younis.
-
450* incidents impacting UNRWA premises and the people inside them have been reported since the beginning of the war (some with multiple incidents impacting the same location), including at least 72 incidents of military use and/or interference at UNRWA premises. 188 different UNRWA installations have been impacted.
-
UNRWA estimates that in total at least 520* IDPs sheltering in UNRWA shelters have been killed and at least a further 1,596* injured since the start of the war. UNRWA is still verifying the number of casualties caused by incidents that impacted its installations, and notes that these figures do not include some reported casualties where the number of injuries could not be determined.
* Numbers continue to be subject to change once further verifications have been conducted.
