Earlier this week UNRWA's Commissioner-General, Karen AbuZayd, allocated an amount of $3 million from the Agency's resources for additional projects and activities benefiting Palestine refugees in Syria. The $3 million, contributed by various donors to UNRWA's General Fund, represents the first substantial funding for the Agency in Syria as a result of the launch of its Medium Term Plan. Some 30 different projects and activities will be impleme nted with the additional funds, further enhancing UNRWA's Education, Health, Relief and Social Services for Palestine Refugees in Syria. The additional contribution increases UNRWA's budget in Syria for 2005 to $31.3 million, not including funding for special projects currently under implementation for a value of $19.4 million.
