On 3 December, UNRWA joins the rest of the world in celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Removing barriers and facilitating inclusion can empower persons with disabilities to become agents of change in their own lives and communities, striving towards ending exclusion and promoting equality.
While all Palestine refugees face challenges due to their protracted displacement, Palestine refugees with disabilities can experience extra obstacles and difficulties accessing services and reaching their full potential. Recognising this, UNRWA is working to make sure accessibility and disability inclusion are a key part of the way its services and programmes for Palestine refugees are delivered. The Agency has directly supported thousands of Palestine refugees with disabilities this year.
