Insecurity Insight identified 1454 incidents that took place at IDP/refugee camps in 24 countries and territories between 01 January and 30 September 2024. Nearly two-thirds of incidents recorded camp bombings, killing and injuring camp residents and damaging infrastructure. Such incidents were reported in Gaza, southern Lebanon, Mali (Kidal region), Myanmar (Rakhine state), Sudan (mainly in North Darfur state) and Syria (Aleppo governorate), among others. Incidents involving camp residents being arrested or detained during military operations inside IDP/refugee camps were mostly recorded in Syria (Ar-Raqqa governorate) and the West Bank. In other instances, camp residents were killed, injured or kidnapped in attacks on camps by armed groups. These types of incidents were reported in Bangladesh (Cox's Bazar district), the DRC, Haiti and South Sudan, amongst others. Access the data on HDX. Data is updated every Monday.
