Protection developments and emerging concerns
In December there were severe upticks in demolitions, forced evictions and displacement of Palestinian families in East Jerusalem with 67 structures demolished and 101 Palestinians displaced in the Jerusalem government during the month; including families with persons with disabilities and seriously ill family members. Settler attacks against Palestinians continued at record high levels in Area C and across the West Bank causing widespread trauma, fear, multiple displacements and destroying livelihood and means of survival for Palestinians including Bedouin and herding communities. The non-renewal of NGO registrations with Israel due to stringent data disclosure conditions and other criteria leaves many in limbo legally and compounds the situation with key protection partners facing uncertainty about their operations and possibly at risk of program disruptions.
