PNA will control areas to be evacuated by Israel: Qurei

GAZA, Jul 27, 2005 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei said Wednesday that the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) is ready to take control of and fulfill its responsibility in areas to be evacuated by Israel.

Qurei told reporters that Palestinian security forces are ready to start their missions in the Gaza Strip and part of northern West Bank after an Israeli withdrawal due in mid-August.

Qurei, accompanied by Interior Minister Nasser Yousef and chief negotiator Saeb Erekat, visited Wednesday noon security posts in northern Gaza Strip.

Qurei said the Gaza withdrawal must be followed by a further pullout of Jerusalem and whole of the West Bank.
