Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan and Senior Minister of State for Defence Mr. Zaqy Mohamad with Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Singapore Samer Anton Naber, Singapore’s Non-Resident Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Shamser Zaman, Singapore’s Representative to the Palestinian Authority Hawazi Daipi, senior SAF officers, and representatives from NGOs including Mercy Relief’s board members Mr. Vincent Ling and Ms. Lam Wy-ning were present at the send-off ceremony for delivery of aid to Gaza at Changi Air Base this morning.

Following the announcement of a ceasefire, Mercy Relief joined Regional HADR Coordination Centre (RHCC) to deliver essential food aid to 530 displaced households. The consignment comprised vital food items including wheat flour, canned tuna and tomatoes, infant/children supplement cereals, dry lentils and chickpeas.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza has led to a significant displacement of families, resulting in an urgent need for food and basic supplies. The delivery will help to alleviate hunger and ensure that families have access to nutritious meals during this difficult period. Each of the items was carefully selected to meet the diverse dietary needs of the affected population, particularly infants and children.

"The aid for Gaza is a testament to the collective commitment of Mercy Relief and RHCC to stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine during this unprecedented humanitarian crisis," said Satwant Singh, Chairman, Mercy Relief. "We are dedicated to providing urgent assistance and alleviating the suffering of vulnerable families."
