Amnesty International condemns the suicide attack which claimed the lives of at least two people in a busy shopping mall in the town of Netanya north of Tel Aviv on Tuesday. The Palestinian armed group Islamic Jihad has claimed responsibility for the attack, once again showing utter disregard for fundamental human rights.
Amnesty International has repeatedly called on Palestinian armed groups to put and to suicide bombings and other deliberate attacks against Israeli civilians.
A suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt blew himself up at the entrance of the mall at a busy evening hour. At least 24 people were also injured, many of them seriously.
Amnesty International reiterates its condemnation for such attacks against civilians carried out by Palestinian armed groups, including Islamic Jihad, al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades and Hamas. The organization also calls once again on the Palestinian Authority (PA) to take concrete measures to investigate these crimes and to bring to justice those responsible, including those involved in the planning and organizing of such attacks.
