Gaza Protection Cluster Snapshot: Protection Monitoring |16-30 October 2024 | Issue 6

Attachments

This issue of the Protection Cluster Snapshot, extracted from the Protection Monitoring System (PMS) in the Gaza Strip, highlights the ongoing progress and expansion of the Emergency Protection Responders Model, which was first introduced in July. Approximately 120 emergency protection responders have been trained to respond to urgent protection needs, disseminate information on available services and make critical referrals for immediate cases.

The PMS leverages a comprehensive network of these trained frontline responders and more than 18 active protection partner organizations across Gaza to collect critical qualita.ve and quan.ta.ve data. This is achieved through a mix of Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and semi-structured questionnaires used in Joint Protection Assessments.

Our PM system has facilitated so far a total of 792 KIIs and 35 FGDs, providing vital insights into the protection landscape. During the reporting period, 561 KIIs and 7 FGDs were conducted, covering 40 neighborhoods across 11 municipalities in the Gaza Strip’s five governorates: North Gaza, Gaza, Middle Area, Khan Younis and Rafah.
