On March 2, 2025, as a result of a disagreement between the parties regarding the application of the second phase of the ceasefire, a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip was put in place by the Israeli authorities. The flow of trucks supplying the Gaza Strip immediately stopped.
This dramatic shutdown will rapidly withdraw essential services for the survival of the Gazan population. SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL’s programs are still operating, for the moment, thanks to the few stocks built up during the ceasefire. However, in the next few weeks, fuel oil will run out, forcing our NGO to shut down the water desalination units in operation. The arrival of stocks of equipment, consumables and spare parts needed to carry out these operations has also been suspended due to the blockade.
Since March 17, the Israeli army has resumed its military activities in the enclave, and bombardments have claimed several hundred civilian victims in the space of a few days, including humanitarian workers. With the resumption of military activities and the increased risks for our teams, SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL is currently concentrating on the most vital and high-impact activities for the people of Gaza. Faced with new displacements due to the latest evacuation orders issued by the Israeli authorities, the NGO has been forced to adapt and modify its water distribution points. All efforts are now focused on the production and distribution of drinking water, in a particularly difficult context for humanitarian teams.
