Disease Surveillance as of 13 February
The majority of the Gaza population has been internally displaced, with people living in extremely bad living conditions characterised by crowdedness, poor ventilation, no access to clean drinking water, ineffective sanitation facilities, and high food insecurity, with one in four families on the brink of famine. With 24 confirmed cases of Hepatitis A there are also concerns of a public health catastrophe. WHO is monitoring key morbidities of public health concerns. The data on this page is based on disease surveillance data from some UNRWA shelters and public primary healthcare facilities. Due to high insecurity and connectivity issues, data reporting timeliness and completeness are extremely challenging. It is also worth noting that there’s no/limited capacity for laboratory confirmation of cases.
