CIVILIAN RESIDENTIAL HOUSES DESTRUCTION:

Since Saturday, October 7th, the Gaza Strip has been subjected to severe and sustained Israeli bombardment.
As reported by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, 90% of the targets comprised of residential housing units (HUs). Among these, 8,840 HUs were destroyed, 5,434 HUs endured severe damage, rendering them uninhabitable, and 83,750 HUs suffered varying degrees of minor to moderate damage. In total, 98,024 HUs have been destroyed and damaged, accounting for approximately 25% of residential housing units in Gaza.
Notably, these figures exclude the destruction of entire communities, such as Beit Hanoun and Shujaieh, which are now inaccessible mounds of rubble, this widespread damage exacerbates already existing humanitarian needs and widens gaps from prior escalations.

Shelter Cluster is concerned about the impact of the conflict on residential properties, the damage and destruction that has had grave impact on the civilian population. The right to adequate housing must be maintained, and keeping civilians free from violence and able to access humanitarian.
