196 children detained
27 children between 12-15 yrs

At the end of April, a total of 196 Palestinian children were imprisoned and prosecuted in the Israeli military court system, a decrease of 3 percent from March.

The number of young children detained between the ages of 14 and 15 was 27, an increase of 13 percent from March. There were no children detained in the Israeli military court system under 14 years old.

A group of Dutch experts released a report in April finding that the treatment of Palestinian children by Israeli authorities represents "serious, systemic and systematic violation and disregard of the rights of these children."

An April article in Middle East Eye discusses the difficulty in obtaining accurate information from the Israel Prison Service on the total number of Palestinian children arrested and detained by Israeli forces in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

Over 1000 members of the UK-based National Teachers Union (NUT) met for their annual conference in April where the treatment of Palestinian children in the Israeli military detention system was prominently featured.
