Tropical cyclone YUTU formed over North Pacific Ocean on 21 October and started moving north-west over the ocean toward the Northern Mariana Islands and Guam Island (USA). On 22 October at 0.00 UTC its centre was located 1 300 km south-east of Saipan Island, with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h (tropical storm).
Over the next 24 hours, it is forecast to strengthen but remain a tropical storm as it moves north-west. It may pass over Rota, Tinian and Saipan Islands on 25 October as an intense typhoon.
YUTU will pass over areas already affected by typhoon MANGKHUT over 9-11 September.
