HIGHLIGHTS
REPORTING PERIOD: 1ST MAY 2024 – 31ST MAY 2024
- The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control & Preventions (NCDC) continues to monitor reports of yellow fever cases in Nigeria.
- A total of 124 suspected cases were reported from 98 Local Government Areas (LGAs) across 25 states. The states include Abia (4), Adamawa (6), Akwa Ibom (4), Anambra (27), Bauchi (4), Bayelsa (12), Borno (9), Cross River (1), Delta (2), Edo (6), Ekiti (5), Enugu (1), Imo (2), Kogi (4), Kwara (4), Nasarawa (1), Niger (2), Ogun (4), Ondo (7), Osun (1), Oyo (4), Plateau (7), Rivers (3), Taraba (1) and Yobe (3).
- Three (3) Presumptive positive case were reported within the reporting month from the Central Public Health Laboratory, Lagos [2] and University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin [1]. These cases were reported from: Ondo -2 [Akoko Southwest (1), Ondo West (1)] and Bayelsa -1 [Sagbama (1)].
- One (1) inconclusive case was recorded from Central Public Health Laboratory, Lagos the case reported from Oyo state.
- Five (5) confirmed cases were recorded from National Reference Laboratory (NRL) Abuja (2) and Institut Pasteur (IP) Dakar (3). These cases were reported from Bayelsa (2) [Yenegoa-2]
- One (1) death was recorded among suspected cases in the reporting month from Bayelsa state.
