Education main challenges in the region

• The humanitarian situation in the region remains volatile in Q2, with 2% increase in the number of schools closed, 1% and 0.5% increase in the number of IDPs and refugees respectively compared with Q1.

• Resource mobilization remains a major challenge, as the funding gap for the response is huge at mid-year (up to 86% in cluster countries).

• Few children were also reached for access to education (only 28% in Q2-2024 against 50% in Q2-2023).

• The number of education security incidents has increased significantly compared with Q1 (103 %).
