HIGHLIGHTS

Nigeria is facing escalating humanitarian needs amid declining resources. Over 400,000 children in Northeast and Northwest are at risk due to imminent nutrition stockouts. This is inclusive of 4.9 million children who lack access to basic services due to the the impact of floods, disease outbreaks, and conflict-related displacement in the northeast and northwest. UNICEF has continued to save lives, and protect the most vulnerable, by adapting agile methods, including strengthening local partnerships, scaling multisectoral responses, and supporting government-led coordination, while advancing the humanitarian-development-peace nexus within the ongoing humanitarian reset.

By mid-year 2025, through multisectoral interventions, UNICEF reached over 1.3 million with health services, treated 340,000 children for severe malnutrition, provided safe water to 185, 000 people, and enrolled 500,000 displaced children in education. Over 385,000 received child protection support.

UNICEF received US$95 million of the planned US$255 million, leaving a US$160 million gap (67%) and critical shortfalls across sectors.
