As of March 2025, Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Nigeria were hosting an estimated 6,118,792 affected individuals made up of almost 3.2 million internally displaced persons (IDPs), close to 2.5 million returnees (former IDPs and returnees from abroad) and almost half a million of refugees (both in- and out-of-camp). Seventy-one per cent of IDPs were located in Nigeria (2,252,348 IDPs) , 15 per cent in Cameroon (475,871 IDPs), 7 per cent resided in Chad (225,689 IDPs) and 7 per cent in Niger (212,688 IDPs).
