Sahel Dashboard: Humanitarian Overview (as of 18 December 2023)

The impacts of brutal violence, political instability, climate change, weak governance, chronic poverty, and fraying social fabric render daily survival extremely challenging for the 35.2 million vulnerable women, children and men in need of humanitarian assistance and protection services in 2023. This context worsens their living conditions and access to basic social services, and affects the ability of humanitarian organizations to deliver aid.

To date, 10.3 million vulnerable people have been reached (out of the 23.6 million targeted) with humanitarian assistance and protection services this year. 36 per cent of the required funding has been received (USD 1.6 billion received out of the USD 4.6 billion required).
