On 31 January 2018, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator, supported by the NHF Advisory Board, requested the urgent launch of a NHF reserve allocation to address the needs of highly vulnerable persons in Pulka and along the Maiduguri-Monguno axis in Borno State, and to ensure the continuation of UN humanitarian air services for frontline responders in the north-east. The US$9 million allocation supports 15 projects that would either be discontinued or could not be scaled-up despite increased needs due to lack of funding. About 68,000 conflict-affected women, children and men are expected to be reached through this injection of funds.
