Highlights

  • At least 161 people have died following flooding on 29 May in Mokwa, Niger State, in north-central Nigeria, according to State authorities. Many people, among them children, are reportedly still missing.
  • Niger State Government distributes cash and food items to 458 households affected by the Mokwa flooding.
  • UN Women sets up two mobile kitchens to serve hot, nutritious meals daily to 2,000 people, including women, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.
  • UNFPA exits Mokwa, transitions service delivery to trained local health workers.
  • Niger State closes Mokwa IDP camps, launches transition to sustainable resettlement.
