Highlights
- At least 161 people have died following flooding on 29 May in Mokwa, Niger State, in north-central Nigeria, according to State authorities. Many people, among them children, are reportedly still missing.
- Over 3,600 flood-affected people have received treatment for malaria, peptic ulcers, antenatal care, and other health conditions through coordinated efforts by humanitarian partners.
- More than 250 children have been identified with severe acute malnutrition in Mokwa following the recent flooding.
- As floodwaters recede, priority humanitarian needs include access to clean drinking water, prevention of disease outbreaks, shelter reconstruction, and electricity supply to the three IDP camps in Mokwa.
