Nigeria - Floods (IFRC, NIMET, media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 3 July 2025)

  • On 29 June, heavy rainfall impacted the communities of Wovi and Garjang, as well as the town of Gumsun in Damboa Local Government Area, Borno State, north-eastern Nigeria, causing flooding and resulting in casualties and damage.

  • According to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), two people died, 19 were injured, and 73 others were affected. Additionally, numerous houses were damaged.

  • National and local authorities are providing emergency responses to support those impacted.

  • On 3–4 July, moderate rainfall is expected across Borno State.
