Description

On Friday 08-08-2024. Severe flooding led to the destruction of the entire Community of Sabon Gari, Katagum LGA, Bauchi as a result of heavy rainfall, the event which led to the loss of over 400 households, valuable properties worth millions of naira, thousands of hectares of farmlands, animals and livelihood activities disrupted completely.

The incident also washed away the road linking Azare to Giade, in another development, a truck conveying more than 300 animals lost its way and finally crashed down which led to the loss of all animals in the truck.

A rapid assessment was conducted after the aftermath by Katagum divisions, the report of the assessment indicates that;

· 600 houses were drastically destroyed

· Over 800 individuals were affected

· All the community has been displaced

· More than 300 livestock were lost

· Source of water has been affected

· The survivors of the incidents were moved to Gida Dubu, an area that was built by the government

The affected community needs immediate intervention in food & NFI, Medical care, and WASH.
