- Heavy seasonal rainfall and floods in Nigeria had adversely affected nearly 1.2 million people, particularly in the northeastern states, as of September 25, according to the UN.
- USG partners accelerated cholera response activities in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe following severe flooding in the region, which elevated the risk of waterborne disease transmission.
- OAG-driven insecurity and deteriorating economic conditions, including persistent inflation, further restricted food access for at-risk populations in northern Nigeria throughout 2024.
