HIGHLIGHTS

▪ In December, 2020:

‒ A total of 157 suspected cases were reported from 23 states of which 84(53.5%) were from Ekiti (33), Oyo (15), Bayelsa (15), Lagos (11) and Osun (10)

‒ Of the 157 suspected cases, 15 (9.5%) were confirmed (14 lab confirmed & 1 clinically compatible), 97 (61.8%) were discarded and 45 (28.7%) are pending classification

‒ The 15 confirmed cases were from 9 states; Oyo(3), Akwa Ibom (2), Osun (2), Edo(2), Niger(2), Rivers(1), Ekiti(1), Ondo(1), and Kwara(1)

‒ One new LGA (Saki East in Oyo State) reported confirmed cases

‒ No death was recorded among confirmed cases

▪ From January – December, 2020:

‒ Katsina (1,778), Sokoto (1,233), Yobe (1,202), Zamfara (1,102), Adamawa (777), Kebbi (756) and Borno (677) accounted for 49.8% of the 15,099 suspected cases reported

‒ Of the 15,099 suspected cases reported, 9,316 (61.7%) were confirmed (2,508 lab confirmed, 1,501 epi-linked and 5,307 clinically compatible), 4,973 (32.9%) were discarded and 810 (5.4%) are pending classification

‒ The age group 9 - 59 months accounted for 58.7% of all confirmed cases

‒ A total of 55 deaths (CFR = 0.6%) were recorded among confirmed cases

‒ Up to 5,422 (58.3%) of the confirmed cases did not received any dose of measles vaccination (“zero dose”)

▪ Measles outbreaks from January – December, 2020:

‒ One new LGA (Saki East LGA of Oyo State) recorded an outbreak in this reporting month

‒ Of the 223 LGAs with reported outbreak this year, 5 LGAs across 5 states have an ongoing outbreak in December
