HIGHLIGHTS
In April, 2024:
Katsina (94), Oyo (79), Osun (58), Lagos (55), Anambra (50) and Ogun (36) accounted for 44.76% of the 831 suspected cases reported
‒ Of the suspected cases reported, 105 (12.63%) were confirmed (86 lab-confirmed & 0 epidemiologically linked, 19 clinically compatible), 266 (32%) were discarded & 460 (55.35%) were pending
‒ A total of 289 LGAs across 32 States + FCT reported at least one suspected case
‒ Two (2) deaths was recorded from confirmed cases
From January – April, 2024:
‒ Borno (3019) Katsina (379), Lagos (351), Bauchi (349), Yobe (346), Osun (342) and Ogun (302) accounted for 56.84% of the 8,950 suspected cases reported
‒ Of the suspected cases reported, 4,316 (48.22%) were confirmed (1144 lab-confirmed, 2040 epi-linked and 1132 clinically compatible), 1,213 (13.55%) were discarded and 3,421 (38.22%) were pending classification
‒ The age group 9 - 59 months accounted for 2775 (64.3%) of all confirmed cases
‒ A total of 35 deaths (CFR = 0.81%) were recorded among confirmed cases
‒ Up to 3,344 (77.5%) of the 4,316 confirmed cases did not receive any dose of measles vaccine (“zero doses”)
Measles outbreaks as at April 30th 2024:
‒ By end of April (epi-week 17) of 2024, a total of 133 LGAs across 23 States have recorded measles outbreaks, with Kaduna and Bauchi States having the highest number of affected LGAs (11 each).
‒ Adamawa and Borno have 10 affected LGAs each.
‒ Furthermore, 44 LGAs across 15 States have ended their measles outbreak as at epi-week 17, with Kaduna (8) and Bauchi (7) having the highest number of LGAs that have ended their outbreak this year.
‒ By end of April 2024, 80 LGAs across 22 States still have ongoing measles outbreak.
‒ A total of 9 LGAs across 7 States recorded new measles outbreaks in the last week of April 2024
