Highlights

• The National Measles Technical Working Group is monitoring surveillance data across all states

• In this reporting month, 1 st – 30 th November 2019: o 2,064 suspected cases of measles were recorded in 36 states and FCT with 7 deaths (CFR=0.3%) o Katsina (342), Borno (248), Kaduna (237), Yobe (216), Sokoto (142), Kano (106) and Adamawa (83) states account for up to 67% of the cases reported in November 2019

• The LGAs with three or more IgM positive cases in November include Bakori LGA in Katsina State (9), Warawa LGA in Kano State (8), Fakai LGA in Kebbi State (8), Jos south LGA in Plateau State (7), and Udung Uko LGA in Akwa Ibom State (3)

• Between epi-week 1- 48 (January – November), 2019: o A total of 58,916 suspected cases have been recorded from 579 LGAs in 36 states and FCT with 289 deaths (CFR = 0.5%) o Out of the 12,467 samples tested, 2,767 (22%) were IgM positive for Measles (confirmed) while 9,090 were discarded

• Measles Supplemental Immunization Activity commenced in northern states for children age 9 – 59 months and introduction of second dose of measles containing vaccine (MCV2) in southern part of the country for children 15 – 23months
