IOM Nigeria Flash Report #282: Population Displacement - North-west Nigeria - Zamfara State - Conflict/Violence (7 April 2026)

On 19 March 2026, an armed bandit attack occurred in the community of DanGuro in Nahuce Keku/Nahuche U/Daw Ward of Bungudu Local Government Area (LGA) in Zamfara State. According to key informants, the attack displaced a total of 352 individuals from 60 households to the community of Nahuce Keku in Nahuce Keku/Nahuche U/Daw Ward. The displaced population included 197 children, 86 women, and 69 men. A total of four casualties were reported, including one injured person and three fatalities.

Following the incident, Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) field staff conducted rapid assessments on 30 March 2026 to inform the humanitarian community, as well as the government and partners, and to enable a more targeted response. Food, non-food items (NFIs), water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and shelter were the most prevalent needs identified
