The number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Niger has increased by 83% compared to December 31, 2019. Violence and armed conflict are the main causes of these forced displacements. About 352,000 IDPs have been registered since the beginning of 2022, an increase of 34% compared to December 31, 2021. Internally displaced persons are settled in 46 host municipalities, of which nearly 44% are located in the Tillabéri region. Niger also has other categories of people in a situation of forced displacement, including 254,265 refugees and asylum seekers in several regions.
