Context
Niger faces significant challenges due to regional instability stemming from neighboring countries such as Mali, Burkina Faso, and Nigeria, as well as armed group activities and cross-border crime in the Tillaberi, Maradi, Diffa, and Tahoua regions.
Furthermore, an unfolding political crisis since the July 2023 coup d’état, coupled with crippling sanctions, has heightened protection risks for local populations. Additionally, climate-related shocks, exacerbated by poverty and weak social systems, further contribute to the fragile operational context in Niger.
