Increase in localized food insecurity as migrants return

• The level and extent of vulnerability to food insecurity is rising because of the return of migrants who are increasing the number of persons in households already suffering from food insecurity.

• Trends in the prevalence of global acute malnutrition in March 2011 are up compared to February 2011 due to the gradual depletion of food reserves and low diversification of food.

• The prevalence of seasonal diseases such as malaria in March 2011 exceeds the seasonal average.
