The Nicaraguan Children's Fund is a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, California, that is committed to improving the livelihood of the poor and destitute communities along the eastern coast of Nicaragua. This region, also known as La Mosquitia or the Mosquito Coast, receives little government support because of its cultural and geographical isolation from the rest of the country. Its health centers are severely lacking in basic supplies and medicines, and malnutrition is a common occurrence.

Direct Relief's donation consisted of prenatal vitamins, children's' analgesics, antibiotics and oral rehydration salts which were hand-carried by a medical team focusing on improving maternal and child health in this isolated region.
