Programmes summary:
Risk management programme - The NRC strengthened its risk management department though the training of rescue workers at the national level, which will be in charge of liaising the Majors’ Offices in their jurisdiction. Work has been carried out to increase awareness of climate change within the National Society. NRC staff and volunteers also participated on the development of the conceptual and methodological framework for urban risk, jointly with other National Societies of the region.
At the community level, the National Society is implementing community-based and disaster preparedness activities through the national DIPECHO VII project supported in consortium by the Italian Red Cross, Netherlands Red Cross and Spanish Red Cross. This national project targets urban communities and provides key information to orient the development of the conceptual and methodological framework for urban risk of the secretariat. In addition, the National Society is implementing the First Response Initiative project with support from the Canadian Red Cross.
