KATHMANDU, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- The number of people dying from cold wave is on the rise in Saptari district in eastern Nepal following a sudden mercury plunge in the district for the past few days.
According to Wednesday's eKantipur.com, a 45-year-old resident, who was admitted to the Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital after she fell sick due to the fall in temperature, died Tuesday night.
With this, the number of people who have died of severe cold in the past month has reached five in the district, some 190 km east of Kathmandu.
Earlier this month, four people had died of cold in the district.
