Squatter settlement in Rautahat facing dengue epidemic

Nov 9, 2017-A settlement in Paurai Bazar area in Chandrapur Municipality-1 in Rautahat is facing dengue epidemic like situation.

According to health official Rajesh Sah, one to three members of a family have reported high fever, severe headache, nausea and cramps in the settlement with around 300 families.

“Many have fallen sick in the area,” said Sah, “Most of them are displaying symptoms of dengue and we need an expert team of medical personnel to contain the disease.”

Likewise, Paurai Heal Post Chief Puja Shrestha has informed that seven people from the settlement have been diagnosed with dengue. She further informed that one local Ram Babu Chaudhary, his wife and son, all of them tested positive for the disease.

Following an epidemic like situation, District Health Office has started neutralising the larvae of mosquito that causes dengue.

“All of us are trying our level best to nutralise the mosquito larvae in the area,” said District Health Office Vector Controller Nandeshwor Chaudhary, “And we have also requested for 100 sets of dengue diagnosis kit.”
