Security forces, guerrillas clash in far-western Nepal

KATHMANDU, Jun 9, 2005 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- Clashes are going on between Nepal's security personnel and anti-government guerrillas at Traffic Chowk area in the far-western town of Dhangadhi Thursday afternoon, the army said.

Preliminary reports say the clash started at around 5:30 p.m. local time (1145 GMT), but details were not immediately available.

So far, there have been no reports of casualties on either side.

Over 12,000 Nepalese people have been killed since the anti- government insurgency erupted in the Himalayan kingdom in February 1996.
