Seven cargo vehicles with 60 tons of emergency relief materials for Nepal’s earthquake victims were dispatched from Dhaka this afternoon. The cargo trucks will reach Kakarbhitta, Nepal via Banglabandh-Fulbari-Panitanki land route tomorrow. The relief materials include tents, medicines, blankets, garments, dry foods, ORS, and milk powder, among others.

Meanwhile, the Ambassador of Nepal to Bangladesh H.E. Mr. HK Shrestha held discussions with local authorities of Panchagrah district this afternoon with a view to facilitate and co-ordinate the dispatch of relief materials from Bangladesh. He is scheduled to travel to Kakarbhitta, Nepal tomorrow via the Banglabandh-Fulbari-Panitanki land route along with a convoy of cargo vehicles carrying relief goods.

Similarly, various organizations and individuals have continued to lend support for the earthquake victims. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh has contributed a sum of BDT 1 million to the Embassy’s Special Relief Fund. A check for this amount was presented to Embassy officials by the President of the Institute, Mr. Masih Malik Chowdhury this morning. The Meghna Group of Industries handed 5 tons of flour and the Akij Group handed over 1000 cartons each of pasteurized milk bags and mango juice. The Bangladesh Indenting Agents’ Association and a group of volunteers provided 200 tents for the quake victims.
