Nepal: PM inspects flood-hit areas

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal made an inspection visit of the flood-hit areas of Kailali district on Friday and pledged more state assistance to the victims.

PM Dahal met flood victims at Lalbojhi VDC-4 and assured that the government would provide all kinds of assistance to them.

Meanwhile, the European Commission (EC) has allocated Euro 4.5 million in humanitarian-aid for flood affected people in Nepal and Bihar in India, according to a statement issued by the European Commission Humanitarian Aid department (ECHO), India on Friday.

Out of the total amount allocated by EC, Nepal will get one million euros to address urgent needs of flood affected people in the country.

In another report, at least 3,540 people have directly benefited from the operation of Nepal Army (NA)'s motorboats in Haripur and Janumuna section of Koshi river in the eastern part of flood affected areas, said a statement issued by NA.

The people were having difficulty in reaching to their destinations as the floods swept away the roads.

The Nepal Army (NA) has been operating four motorboats, which carry at least 300 to 400 passengers from Haripur to Jamuna and vice versa.
