Appointed Executive Chief of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA)
Assumes Office
Er. Dinesh Prasad Bhatta has officially assumed the role of Executive Chief of the NDRRMA. On March 18, 2025, Er. Bhatta was formally welcomed at NDRRMA by former Executive Chief Dr. Bhisma Kumar Bhusal and the team.
In accordance with Section 12 of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act, a committee comprising the Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) and two other members recommended Er. Bhatta for the position by following the prescribed selection process and after fulfilling all required criteria. The Cabinet appointed Er. Bhatta as the Executive Chief of NDRRMA on March 17, 2025.
The position had been vacant since December 16, 2024, following the successful completion of the five-year tenure of the first Executive Chief, Mr. Anil Pokhrel. To cover the interim period, in accordance with Rule 5 (Ga) of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Regulations, 2076, Joint Secretary Dr. Bhisma Kumar Bhusal was appointed as the Chief Executive on January 17, 2025.
During a brief address at the welcome ceremony, Executive Chief Er. Bhatta emphasized his commitment to enhancing disaster preparedness and risk reduction efforts to minimize the loss of lives and property. He also highlighted the importance of strengthening human resource management within NDRRMA to ensure the effective implementation of disaster risk reduction initiatives.
