Islamabad - In response to the devastating earthquake in Nepal NDMA on the directives of the Prime Minister of Pakistan has coordinated timely assistance to Nepal earthquake affectees for rescue and relief operations following the devastating earthquake on 25 April 2015.
Towards this end NDMA with the active support of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Army and PAF has coordinated dispatch of rescue & relief assistance that included Army Medical Teams, specialist Search and Rescue (USAR) teams of Army with state of art equipment, 30 bedded Field Hospital with 48 member including doctors, paramedics and technicians, ration including 2,000 Meals Ready to Eat(MREs) ,1 ton Rice, half ton of Dal Chana etc. and medicines via two C-130 aircrafts on 26th April 2015.
The aircrafts returned safely after offloading relief items. The Pakistan Army Medical Hospital is first of its kind to reach Nepal.
It has been successfully established in Bakhtapur in the outskirt of Katmandu. Pakistan medical and search & rescue teams have started their relief operation immediately after reaching Nepal and are providing medical assistance to the affectees on immediate basis.
These aircrafts have also brought Pakistani families stranded in Nepal in coordination with Pakistan Embassy in Nepal
Further to this, NDMA has also dispatched another two C-130 aircrafts to Nepal on 27th April comprising of 200 food packs(13kg), 250 tents, 1000 blankets, 33 cartons of medicines (sufficient for 4000 persons)
NDMA is maintaining active liaison actively with relevant departments to assist the monitor Pakistan’s relief operation in Nepal to ensure all possible assistance to earthquake hit people of Nepal.
