Italian Cooperation sends humanitarian aid to Nepal earthquake victims

The Italian Cooperation has arranged for a load of humanitarian aid consisting of emergency equipment earmarked for the people of Nepal to be flown out of the UN base at Dubai.

The flight, organised in collaboration with the UN base in Brindisi, and in partnership with various UN agencies (WFP, UNICEF and WHO ) and international volunteer organisations, includes tents, blankets, water tanks, a water purification plant and materials to waterproof temporary shelters valued overall at 100,000 EUR.

This load is in addition to the 300,000 EUR contribution Minister Gentiloni instructed the Italian Cooperation to make to the Nepalese Red Cross, through the International Red Cross Federation, for the search and rescue of the survivors, treatment of the injured and distribution of food, water and shelter immediately following the earthquake.
