Operational Updates

New Country Strategic Plan

On the 22 November 2024, WFP Namibia’s Country Strategic Plan (CSP) 2025 -2029 was successfully approved by the WFP Executive Board (EB). The CSP was presented by the Regional Bureau for Southern Africa’s Deputy Regional Director Adeyinka Badejo, with remarks from Honorable Carl Schlettwein, Minister of Agriculture,
Water and Land Reform in Namibia, and closing remarks from the RBJ Regional Director, Eric Perdison. Key highlights during the session included appreciation of the CSP’s focus on enhancing capacity to respond to shocks, building resilience, regional cooperation, and expansion of the Home-Grown School Feeding Programme.

Food Systems: High-level visit

The Minister of Health and Social Services, Hon. Kalumbi Shangula, accompanied by the Japanese Ambassador to Namibia, H.E. Hisao Nishimaki, and WFP, visited the Omaheke Region as part of a field visit organized by WHO under the Japan-funded project Increasing Access to Quality Nutrition and Protection Services for Vulnerable Populations on November 7, 2024. The visit highlighted the project's impact in Omaheke, Khomas, and Kunene regions, with stops at the Epako Gender- Based Violence Unit and the Drimiopsis Outreach Health Service Site to showcase improved access to essential nutrition and protection services. The delegation also visited the WFP-supported food systems project in Epako, which focuses on building resilience and promoting healthy, diverse diets. This visit emphasized the tangible benefits of the project for vulnerable communities, particularly women and children
