Highlights
● Ten days after the earthquakes struck on March 28, 2025, the human toll continues to rise with over 3,500 people dead, nearly 5,000 injured, and more than 200 still missing.
● Over 17.2 million people reside in the affected areas, with over 9.1 million exposed to the strongest tremors across 58 of Myanmar’s 330 townships.
● Urgent needs include food, drinking water, healthcare, cash assistance, and emergency shelter.
● Entire communities have been upended—forcing people into makeshift shelters (stadiums, schools, open spaces) and disrupting markets. This has further worsened psychosocial distress and brought essential services, such as water, sanitation and healthcare, to the brink of collapse.
● People left homeless are now exposed to extreme heat during the country’s hottest and driest month, while early rains in Mandalay add an additional layer of risk for those sheltering outdoors.
