SWRR Ministry hands over aid to strong wind victims in Bago Region

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Win Myat Aye encouraged and helped local people living in Kawa and Thanatpin Township, Bago Region, who had their houses damaged and roofs blown off due to strong winds on 21 October.

The Union Minister met and discussed with Bago Region Chief Minister U Win Thein, the Deputy Speaker of the regional Hluttaw and members of the Regional Cabinet at the Bago Regional Government Office.

While meeting with the affected local people at the hall of the General Administration Department in Kawa Township, the Union Minister said they are providing assistance for any manmade or natural disasters and are collaborating with respective ministries, societies, international organizations and the local people to reduce losses, perform prompt help and to quickly implement restoration processes. He said that he wants cooperation on reduction of disasters because side effect of disasters can be deterrent to the development of the socio-economy.

The Regional Chief Minister also encouraged the local people and the Union Minister supported Ks 3,481,800 for rice ration, Ks 72,570,000 for construction materials for 1,586 affected households in Kawa Township and Ks 165,900 for rice ration and Ks 9,690,000 for construction materials for 274 affected households in Thanatpin Township. The donations were received by relevant officials.

The Union Minister then supported Ks 500,000 to a household with triplets in Thet Ka La Village and one of the residents expressed words of thanks. The Union Minister and his entourage then met with the affected people and gave encouragement. It was reported that the Union Minister provided Ks 86,407,700 to the victims during his trip to Bago Region.
