Sagaing/Mandalay earthquake Situation Report No. 2

• The Government indicates at least 7 causalities and some 52 people injured after an earthquake registering 6.8 on the Richter scale struck Sagaing Region some 50 kilometers north of Shwebo.
Unofficial reports suggest the number of casualties and injured may be higher.

• At least 102 houses, four schools, 48 departmental buildings and 21 religious buildings between Thabeikkyin and Shwebo Townships. Assessments of damages and casualties are ongoing.

• Sagaing, Kyaukmyaung, Khin U, Mandalay, Amarapura and Kyaukse Townships of Sagaing and Mandalay Regions reported damage; Shwebo, Singu and Thabeikkyin were the worst affected.
