  • Kayin State now reports 4,365 in 22 locations.

  • In Mon State 1,855 people are relocated in three camps. On 6 August, a new camp was opened in Mawlamyaing hosting 144 people.

  • In Rakhine State 39 people continue to be relocated with relatives in Minbya.

  • In the Ayeyawady region, Tharbaung and Maubin townships continue to report 1,079 people displaced in safer places (no camps settled).

Coordination and response

  • Recovery: Although most people in relocation sites in Kayin have returned home, many homes, food stocks and paddy fields have been destroyed and damaged by the effects from the storm. Livelihood support, such as seeds and agricultural inputs, will be required to support the most affected people to recover fully.

  • Food: The WFP - Government joint assessment team have surveyed the situation and identifed medium to long-term needs in the affected areas of Kayin. Preliminary analysis indicates that some affected rural people will require food assistance until the harvest season (November-December).

  • Non Food Items (NFI): UNHCR has supported Kayin State authorities to coordinate, to identify NFIs -needs and to develop a 3W analysis to map response gaps. Some NFIs were delivered to affected people during the emergency, however there are still needs for severly affected villages.

  • This will be the last update for this flood event.
