Myanmar: Vessel Bawa Thit launched to perform educative works on storm and earthquake

YANGON, 3 May - As part of efforts to realize the disaster risk reduction programme jointly conducted by Myanmar Engineering Society and Sustainable Ecological Environment Development Society Asia (SEEDS Asia), Vessel Bawa Thit was launched at Nanthida Jetty in Seikkan Township here this afternoon.

On the occasion, Lt-Gen Myint Swe of the Ministry of Defence delivered an address, and the chairman of MES and responsible persons reported on educative works.

Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Win Myint, the chairman of MES and officials formally launched the vessel.

Lt-Gen Myint Swe and party viewed scale models and posters on storms and earthquake education.

For conducting educative tasks on storm and earthquake, the vessel will go trips to coastal regions where mobile educative vehicles cannot reach. Especially, the vessel plans to tour Ayeyawady Delta and some regions of Yangon Division that were hit by storm Nargis.
