OVERVIEW

Since 2011, more than 247,000 people have been displaced in Myanmar.
In Rakhine State, 146,000 people have been displaced since the outbreaks of inter-communal violence in 2012. In Kachin state, 96,000 people have been displaced by armed conflict since June 2011 and over 50% of them are staying in areas beyond government control. In Mandalay Region (Meikhtila), more than 5,000 people have been displaced following inter-communal violence in March 2013. In addition, in the south eastern part of Myanmar, a large number of people remain displaced following many years of armed conflict.
