This update covers the period from 1 to 31 July 2010 and is issued on 20 August 2010.I. Highlights
- Chin State is exposed to landslides during the rainy season, especially in July, August and September. This results in transportation difficulties which impact on the food price in the region.
- The number of reported cases of rodent infestation has increased in Southern Chin State particularly in Mindat Township. Emergency food assistance is needed in the areas, including Mindat, Madupi, Kanpetlet and Tiddim Townships, affected by rat infestation.
- WFP is conducting a Food Security Monitoring Exercise which is expected to be completed in September.
